Carer’s Trust
Cheshire and Warrington Carers Trust are contracted with Cheshire West and Chester to provide support for carers throughout the county. However, one group of carers are often one of the most misunderstood, neglected and marginalised group of carers: parent carers. We have been working with parent carers since 2020 and through our “Better Together” service, we offer a general support service for this group, including monthly support groups in Chester/Ellesmere Port and Northwich and a Contact Line phone support service; parent carers are triaged and the more complex cases are forwarded to us for more detailed follow-up.
One group of parent carers more marginalised than most are those living in the more rural areas of Cheshire West and Chester and in early 2025, we successfully applied for funding through The Westminster Foundation, to offer an “enhanced” support service for this group; predominantly (but not exclusively), focusing on early intervention and support. We offer 1:1 appointments (phone or in person), assisting with emotional support, assistance with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), benefits guidance and assistance in completing DLA and PIP forms and 3 regular monthly support groups in Tattenhall, Malpas and Frodsham.
